Hennepin Theatre Trust announced its spectacular 2016-2017 Broadway on Hennepin Season, bringing some of the newest Tony Award-winning productions to town. Check it out …
Making their local premieres are the 2015 Tony Award winners Fun Home (Best Musical), a coming-of-age story based on Alison Bechdel’s best-selling graphic novel, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (Best Play), a moving play adapted from the popular, award-winning mystery novel by Mark Haddon. And don’t forget Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The King and I (Best Revival of a Musical), the classical tale of two worlds colliding, featuring a score of treasured songs.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. The season line-up also includes Matilda the Musical, the 2013 Tony Award winner based on the children’s novel of the same name, and the launch of the North American tour of The Bodyguard, based on the smash hit film. Back by popular demand are Cabaret, Wicked and Motown the Musical, as well as Rent and the feel-good musical Mamma Mia!. And celebrating the fifth anniversary of collaboration, the Trust presents Theater Latté Da’s production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
