Colorful Fiber Art Mural Comes to Life on Pantages’ Wall

July 18, 2016

Come and take a peek at some of the newest public art being created (fiber by fiber) in the Cultural District …

In celebration of the Pantages Theatre’s 100th anniversary, Hennepin Theatre Trust is working with Randy Walker to bring his unique fiber art to a wall on the side of the Pantages.

The vibrant webs of fibers are an expression of the connections that the artist discovers and explores in the world around him.

Originally educated as an architect at the University of Oregon, Randy Walker is a practicing public artist based in Minneapolis. For the past decade he has focused his artistic energies on creating large-scale sculptural work in the public realm that engages the sites, contexts, histories and communities where he works. Walker’s work is consistently spatial in character, revealing familiar forms and spaces through experiential installations.

This fiber art project is made possible with a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
