A project of Hennepin Theatre Trust
The 5 to 10 on Hennepin project will reimagine a five-block stretch of Hennepin Avenue between 5th and 10th streets as a vibrant destination for everyone to enjoy.
Southwest Airlines’ Heart of the Community program awarded the Trust with a $200,000 grant to bring the 5 to 10 on Hennepin project to life. PPS, a nonprofit pioneer in the global placemaking movement, will provide technical assistance.
Open Call: Overview and Details
In support of 5 to 10 on Hennepin, this open call focuses on four primary activities: mobile stage, community collaboration, street performances and artist markets. Each activity and the associated open call requirements are explained in greater detail.
The 5 to 10 Mobile Stage is a pop-up live-performance stage outfitted with sound and light equipment which will rove Hennepin Avenue as part of the 5 to 10 on Hennepin project.
The 5 to 10 Community Collaboration is a six-month pilot project, pairing local artists with underserved communities via partnering nonprofits to produce a placemaking amenity or a programmatic element as part of 5 to 10 on Hennepin.
Street Performance Program
The 5 to 10 Street Performance Program is looking for buskers, magicians, troubadours, spoken word artists, dancers, jugglers, chalk artists, mimes, balloon-twisters, fire-eaters, stilt-walkers, puppeteers and anyone else with talents to entertain and engage our visitors as they enjoy 5 to 10 on Hennepin. Multicultural performers are strongly encouraged to apply.
The 5 to 10 Artist Market is a series of weekly pop-up night markets — from August 18 through December — featuring Minnesota-made fine art and goods. Activating one city block at a time along Hennepin Avenue between 5th and 10th streets, this Artist Market is part of 5 to 10 on Hennepin.
